New year holiday^W^W^W exams eve

holidays_here
Twas the weeks before Christmas, with exams and much more for all those working on subtitles. The events of these weeks, and possibly more, caused many a staff to disappear more and more. Work was getting done, this much was true, but sadly there was still much to do. So while we try as we may and wish that we might, many things are on hold until after the coming holy night.

In short: The holidays are keeping people busy, sorry for the delays.

Bakemonogatari Novel Translation

random_hitagi_pic
Hello guys!
A new project has been started: Kaien (怪苑). We are gonna translate NISIOISIN’s ~monogatari novels, 6 chapters of Bakemonogatari vol1 are already done. Btw, most of II-Subs staff are participating in this project…

Coming to business, I would like to announce that all people who are interested in this project are welcome.
We need:

1. translators
2. proofreaders
3. quality checkers

Everyone who want to participate should come to #bmgtl channel on rizon network.

Also,  if anyone from baka-tsuki TL project is interested, how about making this a joint-project? First option is to merge our forces and translate Bakemonogatari 1-2 together. Second option is that we are finishing it, and you are doing Kizumonogatari, for example. There is no need to compete and waste TL resources: we all know how valuable they are.
PS Don’t forget to visit our blog – http://kaien.ii-subs.net/!

Not recruiting anymore: timer, editor

Hi guys. It seems we’re in a (desperate ;) need of able editors and timer. Editing means reading the translation, paraphrasing anything that sounds bad, clarifying anything that’s not clear enough, consulting with translators when you have doubts about changing the line, fixing mistakes and typos and so on. This is not as easy as it might look like, and it actually requires sufficient work on your side (it’s not just “yeah, I’ve read it and understood almost everything, it’s good to go”). Timing implies at least rough timing, fine timing optionally, typesetting not required (we have an excellent typesetter, Tai, already).

The only quality we look for, aside from being able to do what’s written above, is the ability and will to work and get the episodes done.

UPD: Though non-natives with perfect knowledge of english are theoretically fine too, you’ll probably have to try hard to convince us in your skills. (If you have an experience of working as editor in another group, for example, that’s a different story). Native speakers are preferable.

If you want to join us, come to ii-subs@conference.jabber.ru (you’ll need a jabber-supporting client, such as psi or miranda, and an account on any jabber server, not necessarily jabber.ru).
Alternatively: #iisubs@irc.rizon.net (IRC).

UPDUPD. Positions closed. Thanks for suggestions. If you’re a good editor and wish to apply, it’s still fine though.

What are we going to do next:

1. We will (probably) sub episodes 1-9 of sorakake. We will do it at a much slower pace though, something like one episode in a three weeks or one in a month. In other words, there’s obviously no need to wait for us if you’re watching the series from the beginning, as there are good translations for those episodes from strikes and other subbers

2. We might re-release episodes 10-15 and further fixing various mistakes, if we have enough time and resolve to do that. But we promise nothing.

3. We will definitely sub additional materials such as PD, and this will be a priority.

4. Sure, we’ll release sorakake batch soon.

5. We will continue to sub BMG -> en as planned, and I will now join the BMG team which might speed up things a little (or slow them down, I wonder ;)

6. As for BMG -> ru, we’re working on it, expect news in a week or so.

Small announcement.

good night, sweet...Twas the night of our release and all was going well. Then, all of the sudden, with a crash, our overworked members (whom had been on this project over twelve hours in a row) practically fell asleep at their keyboards.
The monstrous amount of typesetting, along with a problem or two and of course the sleeping staff, have forced us to reluctantly delay the release of BMG 1.
We apologize to all for our delay, especially those keyboards that are becoming forced pillows.

Release coming today.

Bakemonogatari

hell yeah
Yes, seems that we are taking it (don’t take it as 100% info until ep1 will be released tho).
Don’t expect lighting speed, we will have 5-7 days delay (compared to airing) for sure. Finishing Sora wo Kakeru Shoujo is our top priority. Slowpokes for the win!
