[qIIq]_Bakemonogatari_-_01_[720p][h264][964BED51].mkv

This show is amazing, but translating and typesetting it was like hell. Finally, we’ve done it! Enjoy!
We will not release softsubs separated from raw this time, since timings are different & TS probably will not display properly.

PS don’t forget to say thanks qq guys too.

Remember:
1) Turn off “Pre-buffer subpictures” option in DirectVobSub.
2) If your processor isnt good enough, switch to second sub
track to avoid major lags.

Translator notes

Kiss-Shot Acerola-Orion Heart-under-Blade
It’s the original name of a vampire that bit Araragi.

戦場ヶ原ヒタギ – Senjougahara Hitagi
Her surname literally means “Battlefield”, and her personality sure matches.

Those newspaper-like things are festival overviews and have really boring text on them.

“Moe” is used to describe people (mostly used for girls) that are attractive from a sexual point of view.
“Tsundere” is used to describe people who switch between rough and caring modes.
(good example is Asuka from Evangelion or Shana from Shakugan no Shana)

情・連・相 line in one of signs stands for 情報・連絡・相談 (Information, Contact and Advice)
And is a course of actions that subordinates should do in Japanese slave-like boss-subordinate relations.

西尾維新
Novel author’s name is Nishio Ishin, but is written in a different romaji system and it becomes a palindrome.
It is written as NisiOisiN to emphasise this.

Senjougahara-sama.
-sama is an honorific that is used to address a person who is a lot higher than you in a social standing.
-chan is used to address mostly girls of the same same or lower social standing than you.

Cowlick (阿呆毛 – Ahoge) represents character hard-headedness.

The name 忍(Shinobu) consists of 刃(Blade) above 心(Heart).
So it’s literaly Heart-under-blade, the vampire’s name.

About the crabs.
おもし蟹 (Omoshi kani) – Mind crab
重いし蟹 (Omoishi kani) – Heavy crab
重石蟹 (Omoishi gani) – Heavy stone crab
おもし神 (Omoshi kami) – Mind god
As you can see, they differ in Japanese pronunciation very slightly, so as it said they were derived from each other.

  6. #6 by Anonymous on July 11, 2009 - 4:40 pm

Why would anyone watch an hd show in 480p? Why not just watch something from the 90′s instead?

The font pack is whatever necessary to correctly visualize the fonts in the video (eg. in the ending I can’t correctly view kanji because I don’t have the font you used ^^’).

However, thank you very much guys, you’re the best! And thanks to qq also!

    Just curious
    Thanks ^_^

^I imagine I should be seeing text on those overlays… I suppose it could be due to using win7 or the cccp beta, unless there isn’t supposed to be anything there…? And if there is, god damn it, I waited all this while just to fuck it up.

Because my computer is shit, obviously. I CAN’T watch HD videos.

    +1 for 480p

  23. #23 by ViBaYo on July 11, 2009 - 7:23 pm

It’s a pity you use high profile 5 instead of 4.1on all your movies. If you made the movies dxva compatible it could be decoded by hardware using de video card and the people with old computers could watch them.

  24. #24 by Anonymous on July 11, 2009 - 7:30 pm

Awesome work guys, especially on a show like this.

  25. #25 by phae2y on July 11, 2009 - 7:51 pm

Yeah, and with that -50% quality of video.

Holy crap thanks so much. This was one of the best fansubs I have ever seen, keep up the very good work.

    HOLY SHIT! THAT WAS AWESOME!

  29. #29 by Rita on July 11, 2009 - 10:01 pm

Hi, THANK YOU very much for the release, but for some reason teh sound isnt working for me. My computer can play Blu-Ray and the graphics card and the sound car are very new. So im wondering if anyone can help? Thankx

  30. #30 by fnord on July 11, 2009 - 10:16 pm

Typesetting turned out great. Good job.

  31. #31 by Howling on July 11, 2009 - 10:17 pm

I love your job guys, it’s truly excellent, 10/10. Thank you very very much!

However, some signs there are just no need to be translated. If to speed up the release of episode 2, events like “Roadsign TS hell” don’t need to happen again, it’s better off skipped, since “Parking lot price in January” is in no way relevant to the plot.

Troll more. That is completely untrue, L5.1 allows a peak 300Mbits/sec which is totally necessary in most cases even for live action. L4.1 allows 64.5Mbits/sec. Even L4 should suffice for something like this. I haven’t checked what the peak bitrate is for this ep, but the average is 1.7MBits/sec.

    see here http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/H264#Levels

    So Vibayo is totally correct.

Anyway, great work on the TS & sub!!

  33. #33 by anonymous on July 11, 2009 - 10:44 pm

BTW CoreAVC CUDA can play this without any problem regardless of High L5.1.
